Autocourse Official Illustrated History of the Indianapolis 500: Includes Tribute to Dan Wheldon Hardcover – October 1, 2013

I bought the book as a gift for my 19 year old son. He is a big fan of Indy car racing. He loves it. My husband picks it up to read as soon as he puts it down. Lots of interesting facts and history. I highly recommend this book.

I've been waiting for Donald Davidson to write a book on INDY. I am pleased with this book.

Amazing book!I live in Indy and I was lucky enough to have Donald Davidson sign the book at an indycar event.Wonderful facts and history of the Indy 500Highly recommended!!!

This book is a great history of the Indy 500 from the days of conception to the 2013 race. It is written by Donald Davidson (one of the most knowledgable people in the world on the Indy 500) and Rick Shaffer. I was hoping the book would be in the same format as the earlier Indianapolis 500 Chronicle by Rick Popely which only goes to the 1998 race. That book shows all of the history of each race with the chapter on that race (including photos of each entry in the line-up of qualifying position) and a table of the finish with a picture of the winner with his car. The Donaldson book shows the table of finishing order of all of the races in the back of the book.Also, The description of this book told of the addition of a "Special Tribute to Dan Wheldon". It must be very well hidden somewhere as I was unable to find it.Still, overall, a beautiful historical record of the "Spectacle of Indy".

Cannot pass this book without sneaking a peek at the fantastic photos and text, therefore I'm not getting too much done around the house!! EVERY Indy fan should have this book! I have a big collection of Indy books and this is already one of my favorites. Mr. Davidson has always amazed me with his knowledge.

This is a great book written for anyone who is interested in the Indianapolis 500 history. Recently I had the opportunity to meet Rick Shaffer and Donald Davidson. They are not only great writers but also incredibly knowledgeable about the sport of racing. 5 stars does not give justice to this book. It deserves 10 stars.

ALTHOUGH this book is useable for reference I did not care for the tear at the bottom of one of the pages.
