Game Changer
I had always been squeamish about the idea of menstrual cups but anxiety about an overnight work event coupled with a super heavy flow led me to finally giving them a shot at 34 years old. I had been a pad user up until this point and as tampons don't work for me due to a low cervix, I had wrong assumed that cups would be the same. I chose the larger size and it was an absolute game changer. There was definitely a learning curve, it took me several goes of inserting and removing to get there but I did. After I inserted it for the first time, I had some trouble and did the classic panic that I wouldn't be able to get it out. The seal was strong and it took a few goes before I was fully comfortable reaching in to break it. As someone who has never given birth, I also found the final moments of removal a little painful but bearable. For me, the cup sat with the base just at the entrance to my vagina so with a gentle push from my pelvic floor, it brought it down enough for me to grip and I found I didnt need to use the stem at all. I worried about the cup spilling on removal but again, this was not an issue. Generally, the cup was comfortable. I did have painful cramps this cycle but it would be hard to size of the cup influenced this at all. I could feel the stem as the cup sat low for me so I would be tempted to trim the stem. Capacity wise, I have a heavy flow so I worried that the cup would overflow or leak but this didn't happen. I changed the cup 4 times a day at my heaviest, on waking, at lunch, when I got home from work and before bed and it would be about half full. Overall, I would say that I wished I'd have made the change from pads to a cup earlier. It was infinitely more comfortable than using pads and was wonderful not to have to worry about flooding as I usually do due to my heavy flow. I did find that I had to wear some extra protection as there would be a little residual blood after each changing but I am now planning on buying some reusable pads to deal with this. The added bonus of knowing you're not contributing to environmental damage is also wonderful. Happy first time user, very happy I gave it a go!

Awesome
Second cup I have purchased as I wasn’t happy with the first one but liked the concept. The other one was a different brand. This cup however is fantastic, easy to insert, no leaks and easy to remove. Life changing these menstrual cups.

No more tampons - ever!
A great product. No leaks and easy to insert, will probably use a pad as my period becomes lighter. The only flaw is getting the cup out - it needs a pull ring of some kind. You need to time usage so you don’t have to empty it when out.

LIFE CHANGING
So glad I tried this brand. I have a mooncup too - tried it for years and I guess the shape just doesn't work for my body and I could never get it to work without leaking. The Lena is more "bell" shaped which seems to be great for me. It took me a day or so to get the hang of it and now I love it. I love that I can just keep this in my bag all the time and I don't have to throw a load of period products away each month or have to remember to buy more so I'm prepared. Best purchase I've made in a long time.

You have to try a few makes to find the right fit
I think I got the wrong size. This is hard to insert, difficult to get it to open, even using different fold methods and I find that the bit you use to pull out was too soft so it makes it harder to push in and insert. I will give the other size a go and hope it is better. At the end of the day you have to try a few to find the one that fits. This one just didn't work for me.

Go for the switch!!
This is my second cup and suits me so much better than my previous one. No leaks - what a game changer. If you’re considering the swap from tampons / pads just do it you won’t regret!

Nope..
I consider myself quite expert with period cups as I had them for years and different brands as well. However when I’ve used this one, insertion was fine but removal an absolute nightmare. It took me literally 30 minutes, plus I had to try different positions to allow me to try and grab it better. The stem is too small and thin, when you try and pull it it gives you the feeling it will snap and anyway it slips in your fingers. The cup material itself is too firm and almost impossible to pinch and remove the vacuum. That’s my personal experience but I’ll never use this cup again.

Was loving this at first. A few months out and it’s not sealing as well. I am not sure why. I am doing everything as indicated and it’s had leaks when cup is not full. If I have to replace it every 4-6 months at this cost then tampons are more cost effective. Do the walls loosen resistance after a few months? I love the fact it’s better for the landfills and that’s a main selling point with me. But I’m on a tight budget and a box of tampons will last a few months and significantly cheaper. I want to get away from the trash. But spending that much every 4-6 months is not saving me money. You have to buy the wash & I bought accessories too. It’s only cost effective if it works long term. Make them cheaper. It’s not a one and done product. If you want to spare the environment do not charge me $40 when I’ll have to replace it in a few months. It’s a silicone cup, I can get a silicone measuring cup for $5-6. This has less silicone. Great product but only if it makes sense financially.

I absolutely loath my period. I'm not sure anyone would feel otherwise. Regardless, I hated the constant changing of tampons. The searching of the string. The fear of someone knowing because they can hear the wrapper, the trash bin, or any other noise that doesnt copt to peeing. It controlled my life for a week! It was like this disease I had to hide and keep under wraps. I had an acquaintance shockingly admit her experience with a cup and I was utterly disgusted. She proceeded to explain she needed her partner to go searching for it. She laughingly told us every disgusting detail. So my perception was marred from then on. Months later a good friend shared this discovery and I thought, "Oh! So normal people use this not just disturbed people who tell others who have no business sharing it." Checked it out online. Did a bunch of research. Read countless reviews good and bad and determined that objectively, this kind of product had potential. I just happen to get my monthly the day before arrival. I usually get a heavy amount the 2nd day so knew this was going to be a serious test of ability. The most common problem I had read was the ability to get a seal and that was the number one problem most people had regarding leakage. I decided to use it in the shower and after about 15 minutes finally got it in there. It took a lot of effort and a lot more intimacy than is usual with a tampon. In order to make sure the cup was sealed I had to push my fingers along side the cup and found that one section would not come uncrimped when I tried a certain folding method. I realised that if I pulled the tail and moved it side to side, that usually made things pop open. Immediately after inserting it and getting it uncrimped I stood straight up and probably stared at my crotch for an inordinate amount of time. I did some leg lifts and squats. Some keagles and kicks. Didnt feel anything move. Didnt hurt. Nothing. I knew it was there but only if I paid attention. So I go to work and I'm analyzing my every movement and feeling. Its my heavy day so I'm paranoid and changed it three times in a 10 hour period. With how much was in there I could of gotten away with no changes, maybe one tops. To correlate: I use a super plus tampon every 2 to 3 hours on a heavy day. I didnt have to deal with a dumb string. I could pee like normal! It was like a shield of glory. Now it's not all sunshine and roses. Only because you have to face what your body does. Theres no tampon to soak anything. It's all right there, in a cup. Nowhere to hide. Now that comes to the removal process. You have to grab this cup midway up so you can break the seal and not feel like your pulling your insides out because of suction. It's not easy but it's not too difficult. Just takes a bit of effort. It feels weird and you just hope things that are supposed to come out, do, and things that arent, dont. There is a method to this new madness. Hygiene is important so wash your hands before you go in. The paper towels you use to dry your hands, do NOT throw them out. They are now damp and still clean. (As clean as you can get. Much better than toilet paper.) These paper towels will help you "wash" your cup before reinserting. It's not perfect but will help clean yourself up. Dont flush the paper towels. Just fold them up and place in the stall trash or the outside trash. If there are no paper towels then you will need to use toilet paper. It's not horrible just not the best option. I love not having to think about my period until I'm home. Not in public or at work. I love not having to deal with bathroom trash that's gross. I'm still getting used to placement and my folding method but it's working. Just a few minor adjustments and I think I will have it down. If you find yourself disappointed, I recommend one more try since there is a learning curve. For this price, I feel like you dont lose. Whether you like it or not. I spend 10 to 15 dollars a month on tampons, if not more, and for this price I'm not out much at all if I decided I didnt like it. Also, dont buy the plastic case it advertises to also buy. Between periods the cup needs to breathe and that's why they include a fabric bag. It comes with everything you need. Just get yourself some courage and you have a winning combo.

This is the first and only cup I have used, and so far it's been wonderful. The only issue I came across was trouble getting it out one time, as I believe my cervix sits higher so the cup is a bit hard to get a grip on. This was easy to solve with the help of a medical glove. If you know you have a higher cervix, you may want a longer cup or stem, but I was able to make this work fine. I haven't had any issues with the cup not suctioning or unfolding. The only leak I've had was when I waited too long to empty, and even that was minimal. Overall, using this has been a great experience and I believe this is a very good product.

I rarely review anything, ever, but this product deserves a review. I have to mention today is my first day trying out a cup, ever. I also want to warn you this post may be full of TMI but it is definitely need to know. So, I want to start out by commenting on my 4 star rating on "easy to remove". I have an exceptionally deep cervix. It goes back at least 5 inches. And it tends to suck everything up. I can't tell you how grateful I am tampons typically have a long string on them. Well... I read the reviews, I thought I knew, but even they did not prepare me for the experience that was trying to remove this cup for the first time. I put my foot on the tub, adjusted my hips, went down into a deep squat, did nearly everything I could think of and I could barely feel the tip of the tag (I had not cut it). I was so worried. Maybe this thing isn't for me. Maybe I just wasted my money. Would my wife have to help me get it out?! How could people possibly grab the cup itself to pinch it to remove it?? But then I remembered, someone mentioned relaxing and focusing on pushing ... so that's what I did. I took a long deep breath through my nose and gently breathed out, closed my eyes, and focused. And it worked. I cannot tell you how exhilarating it was to finally grab the cup and once I had ahold of it, I simply pinched the bottom and it came out without a single issue. The process to get there was a journey. I was amazed at my body. I felt powerful. But most of all I was so grateful. It meant I could keep wearing my cup. My periods are the type you hear about and don't want. The first three days of the attack of the red army are brutal. My cramps are so bad I can barely walk. I fill a super plus tampon in two hours - if I dare risk the extra pain to wear one. If I wear a pad, I have to wear the extra long overnights with wings and even then I risk overflowing the back and front within four hours. Every night of my period for the last 8 years (at least) I wake up half way through the night just to go to the bathroom so I don't wake up to a massacre. I don't cuddle on the couch with my wife without fear of ruining our couch. Working out was only possible if I wore both a pad and tampon. And I take a bathroom break at work every 2 hours, and even then I have had accidents at work. Now that you know the backstory, you can probably understand why I wanted this to work. I wanted so badly. And as of today, I am converted. I am so happy I am in tears. It took about 15 minutes to figure out how to put it in properly. I had to relax to get it to pop open and suction properly, but after I figured that out I was good to go. I put it in this morning at 9 am at the firat signs of the red army beginning her march and to be honest by 5 pm I was worried I jumped the gun. I hadn't seen a single drop of blood. I went pee multiple times and had multiple BMs (a symptom of my periods), lounged around on chairs, and generally behaved as if I wasn't on my period. So it hits 9 PM and I decide I should finally be brave enough to try to take it out. Queue scene above... Low and behold it worked! The red army had definitely hit. And I finally found the perfect defense. Tomorrow, I am going to try to workout. But for tonight, I'm going to cuddle with my wife on the couch! Who ever you are, give this a try. For whatever your reason. Just give it a try.

I've been wanting to make the switch to cups for a while now, and I'm glad I finally got around to it. I had only ever heard of the Diva cup and was pleasantly surprised (and a bit overwhelmed) by all of the options. I read through multiple pages of reviews and cup comparisons before deciding on Lena. Lena is made of medical grade silicone so it's a softer/more flexible material that is very comfortable; I was scared off of other brands by mentions of a stiff, almost hard plastic feel to some cups. It is still thick enough to seem sturdy but not bulky. There aren't any ridges or seams on the cup that could provide discomfort. I quite like the shape, as well; I feel like the bell/flower design seems more natural and fits very well. The suction holes were easy to clean (if it wasn't for mentions of this with other cups I never would've known it was an issue). I haven't had it long enough to speak to its discoloration, although I'm not very concerned with it. I really like the aqua/turquoise color option (true to product image) because I'm not really a pink & purple (which seemed to be the only option for many other cups) person, although that would not have ultimately affected my decision of which cup to pick. Most comparisons used age and/or history giving birth as a deciding factor of which size to order, but I opted for Lena Large purely on flow. I feel like I'm on the average size (if you have concerns about being really petite, I'd say go for the small) and have a heavy flow so the Lena Large seemed like the best choice. Definitely heed the advice of giving yourself time to practice and adjust to the cup. I tried practicing with the cup before my cycle and couldn't get it to open and feared it was too big, but the customer service team was wonderful. They said they would replace my cup with the small but recommended some techniques and encouraged me to give it a few cycles before switching. I tried again at the start of my cycle and got it the first try! Lol, I was thrilled! I've worn it overnight with a very heavy flow (cup was filled up) and didn't experience any leaks. I've also worn it during the day and left it inserted while using the toilet; I was concerned with the added time of removing the cup and rinsing it when I'm in a hurry, but this was a nice plus and avoided that situation. I simply checked that it was still in position and went about my way. I change it at least every three to four hours (during the day) mostly out of habit, but based on how full it is I wouldn't be wary of going longer (I believe you can leave it in for 12 hours). Removal is a lot easier than I expected. I don't pull with the stem (because, to be fair, it seems a little flimsy for that) but rather just guide it out or apply slight pressure (there are ridges/grippers that can be quite handy - pun intended). The soft stem probably makes for a more comfortable experience and I'd take that over a more sturdy stem. Random note: I always assumed the odor was from the period itself but it seems like tampons (and pads) have been the culprit all along. I didn't notice any increased needs to urinate or exacerbated cramping. Once my cup is in I don't notice it all; as in, there were a few times ****I actually forgot that I was on my period.**** HOW AMAZING!!!! The carrying satchel is cute and well made. I'll probably keep a box of tampons on hand just for convenience, early periods, and/or when my cycle is finishing up, but otherwise this will be my go-to product. I'm very excited about the future savings and eco-impact from not using disposable products. Overall great experience, especially considering that I'm a first time user. I will definitely use this in the future and recommend it to friends and family!
