These work as designed to help keep fermented vegetables below the brine. They have a nice weight to them, which helps in this purpose.Easy to clean and sanitize.It has a little handle at the top for easy removal. I guess I wish it was a little bit easier to grip it.

These weights work great when you are fermenting in a large mouth jar. I used them for fermenting tomatoes and a batch of mixed vegetables fermentation. Both turned out great. The weights are perfect size for jar and I used a fermentation lid with them.

I recently began fermenting in wide mouth mason jars. The starter set I purchased from MasonTops came with 4 glass weights, but it became very apparent that more were needed.After all, when one weight is "in use" in a jar - it may very well be there for a month (or longer depending on what the ferment is). I also realized that proper design that includes a good surface to grip onto for removing the weight was critical. While the MasonTop weights are wonderful, they are also quite expensive. (prohibitively so if you are looking for more than 4)I came across these (Kinwell) at a good price for 8. I also liked the design of the middle "stem" (the center part of the weight in the recess that your finger will grip to remove the weight from the mason jar). So, I took a chance and ordered a box. When they arrived I opened and inspected them and was surprised at the quality of both the weight, as well as the packaging to store them in.These performed very well in actual use. Great manufacturing tolerance to the size of a wide mouth jar opening, which means quite a lot when you are fermenting finely chopped cabbage, or have herbs like dill in them - as these can "snake" around a weight that has more space and wind up in the airlock, or "pickle pipe".If you are needing good quality glass weights, this is what you want.Cheers

The fermentation glass's are of a good weight. They easily keep vegetables below the brine level as intended. They are the proper size to just fit into a wide mouth quart Mason jar. They will not fit into the narrow mouth jars. If you are using the weights for anything larger than a 1 quart jar across in diameter you will need to add a plate or equivalent to increase the foot print of the weight. The weights are well packaged in a durable sturdy box and foam packing that should last for a long time with some care. The reason I only gave the weights 4 stars is because you must use your fingers to grasp the center stem to remove the weight from the fermentation vessel. In trying to use tongs I found the glass surface to be to smooth to adequately grasp the weight to remove it from on top of the items being fermented. If you are ok with using your hands to reach into the brine you will find this a good purchase.

I use these weights making sauerkraut and they work great.

I got into fermenting peppers about a year ago. I started off with the basics, but have slowly been upgrading my equipment. I'd purchased specialized jars and other things, but had been holding off on the glass weights due to cost. These were reasonable, and they are worth it. They hold most of the fermentation materials beneath the brine and I've had no mold or kham yeast issues since using them, unlike other methods I've tried. Does the job

Nice weight and kept items from floating. A bit messy to take out. Easy to clean and use. I like them, they served their purpose.

I like how snuggly these lids fit in my mason jars, they are nice and heavy and keep the ferment down under the brine. They are easy to remove because of the knob on top. I would definitely buy this product again.

Sometimes you just need to use the correct tool for the job.After using smaller jars, lids, blocks, etc. to hold produce under liquid to ferment, I decided to just get the proper weights. Wish I had them earlier.I elected this version as it has finger grips that make them easier to remove.Wish they kept them in stock as I want to purchase another set so I can ferment ACV and sauerkraut at the same time.
