Is the microphone good enough for a phone conversation?

Yes it definitely is, I've had no issues. I was even surprised I could make calls without having to repeat myself during conversations.

Does this headset connect wirelessly directly to the laptop or does it have a wireless usb plug like mouses and keyboards do?

This headset is bluetooth, therefore you can connect it to any device that has bluetooth. If your lap top does not have bluetooth you can purchase a bluetooth adapter that plugs in to a usb port for less than £5 (google usb bluetooth adapter). There is also a charging cabe with usb but I am not sure if it can be used to connect. The beauty of it being wireless is you don't need to be near your computer/laptop or phone to use it. I bought it to dictate my life story on Dragon anywhere on my phone. Its great

Headphones were working welll, only had them for about 6 weeks then there was no sound. I have tried settings etc but nothing and can’t return
