Can this be placed right over a old metal roof and if so what do you use to attach it with?

Hi, for the first 2 years we actually stapled it right to the roof. We tarred it first and then placed it on top, but after 2 Illinois seasons it started to mold and fall apart. Some shingled the roof in a tan shingle and placed the grass under so it hands down for the tiki hut effect!! We stapled it again and It looks great now for the last year and we also wrapped the area to protect it from the cold weather and snow.

Do you glue it down ? I am putting on a wood awning

I did not use glue - but i was putting it on a metal dock. We screwed down 2 x 4's on top of metal roof. I live in the midwest where the winters get cold and it didn't last 3 years - so if you are year round warm climate these will be great.

Is it mold/rot/insect resistant? Im in central Arkansas, and we get a lot ofcwet, humid weather. Thanks

I haven't experienced any problems with mine. I live in Indiana.

What roof board do i use to attach the tiki grass to?

Mine was just for a parade float so I stapled it directly to the 2X4's. I would assume you could attach it directly to some OSB or plywood but if you want it to last I would waterproof what ever you attach it to.

re-build your own tiki bar

At $500.00 to replace my worn tiki bar, I looked for supplies to rebuild it. This grass roof is top notch.

Fun & Inexpensive, but Not Best Quality...

I purchased these after walking in to look at bamboo and thatch at Forever Bamboo. They have very high quality products, but we could not justify paying $140 for something that cost under $60 here (which is just going to be used on our kids fort.) When this arrived I instantly noticed how loosely the knots are tied, making it appear it could fall apart very easily. Huge gaps between knots on the underside, compared to the much tighter knit stuff from Forever Bamboo. I stapled this on to a simple wood roof, but doubt it'll last long whenever it rains. It does look pretty cool for the kids fort for now! To sum it up, you get what you pay for.
