Battery back-up keeps alarm & time settings, even during storms or blackouts. During outage, screen goes dark to save power while time & alarm continue to run. Once power is restored, display will again light. Requires 2xAAA battery, sold separately

The clock is AC powered with integrated power supply and attached cord. Batteries may be used as a backup power source to ensure time and alarms are retained in memory, but screen while not be lit while clock is in back-up mode.
