How thick is the rug?

Hi. Rug is not very deep pile it is a fairly flat loop finish. I use mine along with the runner on my laminate floor and it stops my son's greyhounds from slipping all over the place.

Can anyone tell me if the red version of this rug is a bright red or more of a burgundy?

this is beige/brown colour and you need terrcotta colour if you want it a bit reddy colour it like a bit of red and orange... there is no burgundy in any of them... hope this help for you..

Are these good to use outdoors, say under a sun sail where in winter it will most likely get wet?

No I don't think that it's suitable for outdoors. Really good kitchen mat as you can pop it in the washing machine and it dries quickly.
