Will a Remarkable "2" fit?

No. Says in the title that it will not fit the Remarkable 2, so I would say it probably does not.

This looks great, but my understanding is magnets should not get to close to the reMarkable. Has the magnet affected the device?

From my view, not at all. I have only had the cover for about 3 weeks, but there have been no adverse affects at all. It's also not a very strong magnet, just enough to keep the cover from flopping around too much.
