The painted pot metal bracket we got with our flag lasted a few years--until a tornado passed by and broke the assembly off the mounting base. I went to the local home improvement warehouse and picked up a plastic replacement for $8 (it was the only one they had for 1" flag poles) but it snapped on the second day.This aluminum bracket is seriously heavy duty. The casting is kind of rough, but how nice does a flag bracket really need to be? You could polish it or paint it if necessary. It comes with four Phillips-head wood screws and four plastic anchors. The screws were quality--the heads didn't immediately strip like the ones I got with the plastic mount.If you need to mount a flag (or something else with a 1" diameter), this is the ticket. I expect it to outlast the house.

Bought this because of recommendations. After being installed for a out two weeks, we had winds come through our area that brought gusts of estimated 30+ mph during the night that broke this flag mount in half. I wouldn't recommend this aluminum casting style flag mount for wind prone areas.

had it up for about a month weve seen heavy snow and winds the holder is strong and works well just what I needed

After having it for about a year it is all ready broken in two. Came out and our flag was on the ground. Thought this would have lasted a lot longer.

Very solid. Looks like a tornado will rip off the side of the house before it breaks this bracket. We love that you can adjust the angle. We use if for our large garden flags, which need less of an angle so that you can see the whole flag without it being folded.

I thought it was well built... Cast aluminum I believe. First minor wind storm and it shattered. Bummer. I'll be welding a steel one to replace it.
