If you new to Sourdough baking this took the stress out of it all for me. Although I thought it was expensive, for me it was worth it. It came in a sealed bag and I followed the instructions, I used Rye flour as its know to rise easier & faster than the white strong wheat. I was worried it was a little thin but once mixed with flour and water it got thicker and on a warm window sill it grew quick within 2 hours it was rising quickly and nice and thick. I have made a variety of cakes from the discard which taste awesome, they bake well and come out well risen. I have made Banana Bread, Carrot Cake up to now and it's only been a week! I have yet to bake bread as I need more time so the weekend I will be up for that challenge and trust I will have a nice sturdy bread. The consistency of the growing starter sourdough is thick and held up well, you can add a variety of different flours to this starter dough, I now have several pots all using different flours like malted & wholemeal also white from that one little sachet. Some are now sleeping in the fridge ready for the big bread bake off LOL!!! Just follow the instructions u cannot go wrong and put in a warm light place and feed daily, if you cannot use daily put it in the fridge to sleep till you need to wake it up :) Im so excited to make bread very soon. Many varieties of bread I can bake including scones, biscuits, pancakes from this one little package, what ever your heart desires 🥰 My hubby is very happy now he sees where his money went LOL!!

I've tried a few times to get my own sourdough starter activated, but each time ended up with something either not very active or that made bread that gave me a stomach ache. So I decided in the end to pay for someone else to do the hard work. I admit I was a little dubious when it arrived, as the starter was in a plastic bag, not a pot, and there didn't seem to be a great amount. But I put it in a jar and started feeding it straight away and was amazed by the results. Within a couple of hours, there was life! Lots of bubbles! I fed it some more and then used some the next day. It made wonderful smelling and tasting sourdough. Not only that, but it stays alive, even if left in a fridge for a few days, or even weeks, without feeding. The starter sort of goes into hibernation...ready to wake up again if you bring it to room temperature and feed it some more. There may be some hooch on the top, but I just poured it off, gave it a stir and was away. Still smelled lovely and yeasty and made fabulous bread. Only minor criticism is that it doesn't come with any recipes to get the novice sourdough baker started. But there are plenty online, so it's more of a 'nice to have'.

This is amazing starter. I received my package and didn’t realise hubby had put in the lounge without tell me. Stayed in the lounge overnight in packaging. The next day I fed according to instructions and within 3 hours it was getting to almost triple. Took of discard and made pancakes receipe including in package and fed again. By the end of the evening had doubled again. First loaf in fridge to be baked later. Picture is the first feeding black line starting level

I've had no issues activating this starter using the information that comes with the product, I have a heating mat which has helped warm it after it's first feed and I can honestly say it's already active doubled easily

Worth noting that there is no airtight jar even though one is shown in the photo advertising the product, which arrived in a waterproof envelope. So I ordered a jar which arrived the next day. Then I was able to feed the sourdough starter and I’m pleased to say that it is alive and well producing bubbles beautifully in the warm cupboard housing my heating/hot water boiler.

To be absolutely fair to KOMBUCHAORGANIC I have yet to add culture to bread ingredients and bake a loaf , but I have followed instructions and I am nurturing the culture . I just feel that I have been taken advantage of exposing my naivety , since all that is required is flour & water !

The yeast arrived in a very liquid state in a plastic bag. I didn't really like it being in a bag. But I fed it overnight and it became like the yeast in the jar. After feeding it a couple more times, I'll make bread and see how it turns out.

Does what is promised although it’s too expensive imo
