What size hole does this make?

about a 2 1/2 in circle. goes about 4 inches deep. Its perfect for single plants from the garden stores. also saves the dirt in a perfect core if you want to cover the bulbs. And its super sturdy. you can dig into the toughest soil.

Is it easy to go through dense soil?

Thank you for your question. The ability to press down with your feet and apply significant pressure from the top should allow the unit to cut through dense soil easily. However, this cannot be guaranteed without testing on the soil in question.
