I'd buy a smaller of the 2. That being said, if it's too big, it won't fit on the thumb and can easily be pried off. My 4 yr old slipped the hand me down from her 6 yr old sister right off time am time again like a game. If its a bit snuggle it will be easier to keep on and harder for the sneaky heathen to remove.
