great value but fishy aftertaste, note: a strong bad taste=rancid product
note: a strong bad taste = rancid product. I have continued with this product despite my first order being what I believe to have been rancid because the second order tasted way different. I suggest refrigerating upon receiving instead of opening. update 3: switched to another brand but wanted to increase to a larger dosage so took the chance to try this again for value. A real gamble in the summer as bottles always arrive warm from truck so this time I refrigerated both bottles as soon as I received them. These bottles are much better than both from my first order so I think the first one had gone rancid before I received them: I refrigerated the first ones only when I opened them and unluckily the first bottle was the absolute worst one- but being new to the product I just thought it taste bad, after all it is fish oil and tasted horribly fishy. This batch actually has a hint of lemon taste and although there is still a noticeable fish aftertaste it is tolerable- glad I tried again, I just eat a couple brazil nuts now after my Tablespoon of fish oil. As for the substance settling on bottom: after sitting on the counter room temp it looked just like the oil so I finished the bottle that way. update 2: second bottle so far is not as bad as first- perhaps the other started to go bad, and it got worse as the amount got lower- also noticed at the end of bottle there was thick solid white/yellow matter at the bottom of bottle- my guess was settled fat but wasn't going to mess with it. still chase it with a chocolate nut, even though this bottle is less fishy it still is fishy. not sure if i'm brave enough to order 2 more bottles good deal or not. update 1: this has become gag worthy and not worth the value. you can not hide it in a smoothie, it's just more of something bad to drink. i chase it with a chocolate covered nut after to kill the taste but not sure how much longer i'll endure this, a bottle plus to go... original: have used another brand that wasn't available so tried this for the value- wish i could have found a single bottle though because unfortunately when taken alone this does not have a lemon flavor at all and does have a fishy taste right after you swallow, it's light but definitely noticeable while my other brand all you tasted was the orange or lemon flavoring. it adds a weird flavor to a smoothie- not fishy just strange. i also asked the company where the oil is sourced from and got the generic answer of "sourced from the best quality" instead of a specific region, while my other brand states norwegian. i'll probably continue my other brand even at a higher price when available & only buy this if in a pinch again- 5 stars for value but 1 for taste. i feel fish oil helps improve my adhd/perimenopausal issues, mostly with sleep but possibly some mood too, and have had better success with oil over pills.

I'm a believer in the benefits of fish oil for pain and general health
I switched to the liquid after reading about the plasticizers in gelcaps - plus it's cheaper than the caps. The quality is excellent. I like fish and don't need the lemon flavor, but it is quite pleasant. I take over a tablespoon a day, either as a shot, a shot with vinegar, or added to a salad (according to convenience, any way is good). I don't get any aftertaste or any "repeats" with burps. I'm on my sixth bottle and will buy more soon.

Great value but bad taste
I'm glad I didn't get the 3 pack, but still regret buying the 2 pack. These are the cheapest fish oil I've seen and it's for a reason. I had searched Amazon for cod liver oil and these popped up, which I should have paid more attention to. I don't know if this brand is good for cod liver oil, I've had cod liver from a different brand that tasted great, fish oil I usually get in capsules because they do have a strong taste and you usually want an enteric coating capsule for them as a result. These are obviously a liquid and won't have that. The taste and smell are awful. It's supposed to have a lemon flavor, but all I tasted and smelled was fish. I ordered these during a cold snap in winter, and they were delivered immediately, so I don't think it's an issue of heat. I'll choke these down and hope for the best. A regular serving is a bit more than a teaspoon. Since these don't have vitamin A or any other things you'd worry about getting too much of, I'm taking under a tablespoon, about double a dose. Once I finish these, I doubt I'd ever get them again. Still, if the health benefits are there, it might be worth it. The price is again great. And there are real benefits for fish oil for triglyceride levels, and in general for aging. If you're over 40, chances are you probably really should supplement with fish oil if you don't have a high fish diet. If you can stomach these, they're the cheapest choice, not a terrible idea to get delivered during the cold months. I might end up using these during the winter at a higher dosage and then using capsules the rest of the year. But be warned of the taste and smell. Update- So the best way I've found to take these, about a half tablespoon and take it as quick as you can. You can get just a hint of the lemon before the overpowering fish aftertaste. Then drink an iced coffee or something else that has a strong taste to try and cover it up. You still have a good likelihood of fish burps. Just balancing the price out with the nutritional value and taste. Ultimately it's still a tough recommendation, know exactly what you're getting. It's really not ideal, but again, at this price point, and for the actual nutritional benefit, you just aren't going to be beating this tremendous value. 5 star value, 3 star taste, average it to 4.

The taste was fine.
I don't like the taste of fish at all but the taste of this product was completely acceptable. At first it tastes like lemon meringue pie. However after about 5 seconds you do get a slight aftertaste of fishiness, but it is not bad. But since I don't like any aftertaste of fishiness, I just have a glass of water and swish my mouth with the water or a little bit of juice and there is no noticeable aftertaste after swishing my mouth clean. The Fish oil is easy to take that way just have your little bit of water or juice ready beforehand. Furthermore I have never had a fishy burp afterwards, even when taking a large dose of three teaspoons. I tried another brand that was twice as expensive and it had the same lemon flavor with no aftertaste at all. However for being half the price I am pleased with this product.

Rancid fishy taste
I've ordered this fish oil many times over the years and never had a problem with the smell or taste. But when I ordered recently (April 2016) the taste was way worse than just fishy. It was a strong, rancid fishy taste and smell. It's not at all tolerable. I thought it might be a one off and ordered a second order to give it another shot, with the same result. I don't know what changed. I've loved and used this fish oil for over a year at least. Not ordering again from them. I've had to throw out 2 orders because of not just a fishy taste, but a rancid fishy taste.
