Will these be the right size for a ladies uk 5?

Yes if you get a medium for size 5 ladies shoe. I'd get two pairs as when winter hits the price goes up. And they really are worth the money wish you could get them for the car.........

Will these be suitable for Ladies shoes or do you have to wear boots

They are suitable for ladies shoes, but obviously they have to be flat soles. They come in sizes also.
