Green Porno: A Book and Short Films by Isabella Rossellini

Isabella is amazing in her Green Porno's, and they are always a combination of artistic, entertaining, educational, and hilarious! You learn about different creatures and their mating habits, but she presents it in a really unique and interesting way. The videos are really the best part, but the books have beautiful images as well. I bought this as a gift for a friend who gets a kick out of animal mating behaviors, and so it made for an evening of laughing and (unintentionally) learning. It's really amazing and I encourage you to check it out.

I had seen the short films long time ago and really enjoyed them! I didn’t realize a CD was included with the book so was excited to see her perform the skits again. She’s brilliant.

This is basically a picture book. There may be less than 500 words written in it. But the images are pretty cool, and the book has an environmental and ecologic message regarding social responsibility, plus other facts about animals and sea life. I was expecting a more scientific approach, but I will take it for what it is.I haven't watched the DVD that comes with it yet. I like Isabella Rossellini though, so to me it was a good buy.

I've gifted this book many times in the last few years. It's very entertaining to watch these short films. This made me a huge, huge fan of Isabella Rossellini. She is strange in the best ways possible. Everyone I have given this to has said they loved it. I don't even know what short is my favorite. I just know that I am happy I do not have the penis of a whale. Isabella seems like she was having the time of her life while filming this and you can hardly blame her.

I'm a huge fan of Isabella Rossellini after seeing a couple of her Green Porno skits in the Sundance Channel. She's hilarious, and I was so happy to find this book super cheap. I was even more excited when I found out it had a DVD that included the skits. It's a great book, and the shows are very educative. She combines comedy and education, and she does an absolutely great job. I hope she keeps making these shows. Check out her "Seduce Me" skits!

I bought this book and DVD combo after seeing clips on it on Attack of the Show. The artsy filming and images do make the (factual) material interesting. My main complaint is that both the DVD skits and the book itself are very short. The content itself is well presented and (so far as I know) accurate.

After watching the DVD and then reading the book, all we can say is that we want more, more and more of Rossellini's creative genius. She has an amazing story telling ability and speaks volumes with just one expression or body position. Green Porno is one of the most unique ways we know to learn about the animal kingdom and their mating habits. Funny, charming, thought provoking! Little wonder this talented artist is now taking Green Porno to the Broadway stage.

I had seen the author interviewed on television, so knew about her very creative work. The pictures in the book showing her costumns for the teaching aspect are super. Her work is delightful, funny, shocking and colorful all at once. The choice of color is great and descriptions really cannot do the book justice. L Holt

Rosselini ist nicht nur eine vielseitige Schauspielerin und ein erfolgreiches Model, sie hat mit diesem Buch bewiesen, dass absolut imstande ist, besondere Aspekte und Informationen aus dem Tierreich sehr kreativ einem breiten Publikum vorzustellen. Sehr humorvoll, unterhaltsam und informativ. Empfehlenswert !

I adored Green Porno ever since I first saw it on youtube. Indie film star Isabella Rossellini dresses as various insects and marine animals to discuss their mating practices. Sound weird? It is. But it's also charming, funny and you genuinely find out about animals and the environment as you watch. It's kind of like a speed biology course on acid with paper costumes! I find myself telling people I've barely met that Earthworms are hermaphrodites or that snails are into S+M but perhaps that's just me... ;-)For adults but (with some exceptions) safe for kids the series is great. The book is basically a coffee table book with pictures of Isabella from the series and some basic extra information about the species featured. The real pull however is a free DVD mounted in the back of the book which includes EVERY episode made.Green Porno is very special and won't appeal to everyone BUT I LOVE IT!!!x
