is the item durable, and uv protected, thinking of getting it for a wall that gets a lot of sunlight ?

It's been on the wall directly opposite a window for years and hasn't shown any sign of fading or colour alteration.

in my opinion, it works really well as a stand alone item. I have it on the longest wall in our living room and it works incredibly well. It's not too overwhelming either. So to answer your question yes it is big enough. Hope this helps!
