What are the dimensions of the stand itself? i.e what is the physical footprint of the stand when placed on a surface?

Height: 5.8 inches (14.9 cm) Width: 10.3 inches (26.3 cm) Depth: 8.7 inches (22.2 cm) Weight: 1.43 pounds (.65 kg) Bridget, Twelve South Customer Support

Can this support the weight of the 27 inch iMac?

Yes, the Curve Riser is strong enough for the 27-inch iMac. Bridget, Twelve South Customer Support

What is the height, 6" or 6.5"? amazon description lists 6" but twelvesouth website lists 6.5". is the curve on twelvesouth's website a new version?

At the highest point, the Curve itself is 5.8" high. However, since the screen is not at the very bottom of the MacBook (there are hinges and the border), the screen itself is at a 6.5" height on the stand. Bridget, Twelve South Customer Support

Do other lap tops work with this?

It really would depend on the size and weight of the laptop. Most current thin laptops should be fine. Anything from Apple would be perfect. A thick, heavy gaming laptop would not be a good fit.
