Murder by Magic: Twenty Tales of Crime and the Supernatural Review: Fun shorts of murder and mayhem - This was a fun read by some of my favorite authors. Review: Combines 2 of my favorite genres - I enjoy Urban Fantasy and love a good murder mystery, so this was right up my alley. I thoroughly enjoyed most of the stories. There were a few I liked less (one had a mystery the "detective" didn't solve - the murderer spontaneously confessed; one had an MC I really didn't like as he was rudely abusive to a subordinate, and another had an ending that just left me thinking 'I don't get it'), but overall, well worth reading.

Extraordinarily good anthology
It is very rare that I am able to say that I enjoyed every story in an anthology, but that is the case for this volume. Many of the stories have a humorous quality, not so much laugh out loud as being pastiches of various mundane mystery and other genres. There is a great diversity in the types of stories. The characterizations and story-telling are uniformly good to outstanding. The works tend to be set in somewhat feudal cultures, as fantasy usually is, but others are quite modern or otherwise set in familiar times and places (if you credit the existence of magic.) Worth reading both for fantasy aficionados and mystery fans.

A pinch of fantasy and a dab of science fiction dropped into a batter of mystery!! Deliciously wicked!
Murder by Magic is one of the best anthologies I have ever had the pleasure of reading. It's mystery, fantasy, and science fiction all mix together with a wickedly delicious result. I am already looking for the next one? And novels by some of the authors I really liked.

Mediocre
Typical of anthologies, this one has a few good stories and the rest hover around average. I stopped reading anthologies for exactly this reason, but I read this one because the theme interested me. I'm going back to not reading anthologies, this one has done nothing to change my opinion.

Good Selection
Loved this book. With an anthology of short stories, it is hard to enjoy all the stories. These were good tales. However, two of the stories were contained in another book. That is the reason for only four stars.
