How far apart do they need to be hung?

You can hang them any distance apart you want. Just test it out with the mugs you are using to make sure the distance works.

How long are screws? I dont want them poking through the cabinet.

I love them but they do poke through a bit. May trim them or purchase separate screws?

Could they hold pots and pans?

I don't know this for sure, but I think they would.

Has anyone tried mounting these with command strips?

I tried with industrial strength velcro and it failed under the weight of two mugs. I don't think the command strip stickies would fare any better. I'd say if you try it, don't hang your favorite mug from it
