I cannot use my own labels? Terible

The labels have an RFID tag on the inside of the roll. If you buy a roll of dymo brand, take the tag out, and put it inside/near the reader then you can use your own labels.

Am i forced to buy dymo-brand labels for this printer?

Dear Mojo, this is Vernie from DYMO Consumer Care. Thank you for contacting us regarding our LabelWriter 550 Turbo. Please be informed that the LabelWriter 550 Turbo would work together with genuine DYMO-branded labels only.

Can I use my older genuine Dymo labels that don't have the big brother chip in them?

No, the 550 doesn't detect new out of the box DYMO 30327 labels that i used in other LabelWriter.

I use the 450 in my retail business to print pricing labels that are 1" X 1.5" in size. Does the 550 recognize these labels?

Hello, this is Kasia from DYMO Consumer Care. Thank you for your interest in our product. I would like to inform you that the DYMO LabelWriter 550 printer operates only with original DYMO labels. The original DYMO label with size 1" x 1 1/2" has SKU no 30347.
