5.5" on/off switch version For the cheap price I was honestly expecting something of lesser quality. Mine has no defects, came undamaged, has a switch on the cord, has a nice heavy porcelain socket, black enamel paint on the outside of the dome, inside is not crazy reflective but it's not bad, kind of like an aluminum look, decent vent holes. Just like the pic but it's hard to really gauge quality from the pic. Quality is decent. It's rated for 75 watts and it seems well made enough to handle that but I feel that would get a bit unnecessarily hot in this size dome. If I was going above 40 or 50 watts I'd get an 8" or one of the deeper 5.5" domes to have more air space around the bulb. No sense gettin a fixture absurdly hot for no reason. I'm currently using mine with a 35 watt halogen bulb for basking spot, and I have a 1" porcelain socket extender in there to get the bulb just a bit lower and it's working out splendidly. It does get hot after a while but not like 3rd degree burns the second you touch it hot. Kind of a side note, those socket extenders are nice for the small halogen bulbs because they also get the bulb more centered vertically in the fixture so you have optimal room for heat dissipation. Just be sure to get porcelain and decent quality. Anyway this is a great little dome. For $7 I was kind of expecting it to be more chintzy and just use it for a small UVB CFL or a night light or something. But I'm comfortable with a 35 watt halogen in there. It would be awesome for a small coil style UVB but it's not deep enough for the double "U" style like the Reptisun mini I typically use. It would work if you had it suspended but a lot of the bulb would stick out and that's just not sexy at all. For anything like a standard sized bulb or smaller it's excellent.

I use this lamp for a grow light, and it works great. I tried several other options before finding this product. Some had no on/off switch. Some couldn't support enough weight through the adjustable neck or the clamp. The packaging it comes in could use some improvement. My first order arrived with the lamp "shade" crushed, and I had to have it replaced.

The clamping function of this lamp makes it better to use when you don't need a lid for your tank. It might be better for turtles and other similar pets that won't escape and don't necessarily need a lid over the terrarium. The hardware is solid and the lamp itself is built with quality. Highly recommended!

These work very well and lasts a long time, however, despite their longevity they do have a certain fragility. It's hard to explain, but sometimes the wire connection can be a little temperamental. Most of my lamps work fine but sometimes one will make this buzzing/fizzing sound and I know it needs to be tightened in a certain way, or if it continues I just replace it because I'm worried they'll be a spark that could be dangerous. One of my lamps fell from a table and the outer casing broke. The lamp still worked which is why I say it has longevity, just be careful and watch out for any signs of trouble

I've purchased at least 6 of Fluker clamp lamps over the years. I don't recall assembly being complicated. This one really wasn't difficult after I looked online. There are 2 sets of holes, one with a wing nut and the other without. Many, like me, would think another screw and nut would go through the second hole. WRONG. Not sure why the hole exists - it's useless. Before tightening the wing nut slip the grippy metal end of the clamp between those 2 holes then tighten. Perfect. These fixtures last forever, I needed a smaller model for a small tank to temporarily house a baby snapping turtle I found by a creek. Laying on top of ground it appeared dead. I picked it up and it began moving in the warmth of my hands. The weather here has been crazy - seemed like it had begun to brumate but in an unsafe location. Now in a 78 degree tank with greens and hiding spaces and a UVA/UVB - he is eating well and will be released at the same creek in the late spring.

I love these clamp lights so much. They make keeping your reptiles and other small animals comfortable and healthy so easy. They are easy to use and set up just 1 screw. The clamp is very strong and can fit nearly anywhere you need it to. We have one on a tote for our tortoise another in a enclosure for our hedgehog, very versatile. The light itself is very sturdy and well made strong. The clamp makes it portable as well because, it is easy to take apart and carry with your when traveling. The heat is dependent on the level of light you use. Looks sleek and not bulky. The metal does get hot as does any dome light. These clamp lights are a great value for reptile small animal owners.

These are great little lamps for an even better price. If you get them during a sale they can be as low as $5 each. They may be little, but they put out a decent amount of heat. *Anything containing a bulb can get fairly hot, so use caution when handling anything but the ceramic part. Honestly turning the lamp off and letting it cool first is safer for everyone.* Speaking of safe, it took me forever to confirm, but even though it comes with a clamp (which is hell to assemble) you can place this flat on mesh lids. Just make sure you create a safe distance between the bulb/heat and the animal, to avoid burns. When I equipped this lamp with a bulb, there are holes around the top of the lamp to allow heat to escape. The only negative is that the light escaping can be hard on the eyes if hit just right. I recently started using infrared ceramic bulbs which emit no light, so that's no longer an issue for me. All in all a great little lamp at a great price, just don't buy at a pet store, you'll be paying almost triple the price. Update: Still working after two years of off and on use. Absolutely recommend.

Just a reminder for those buying that this only supports 75W and below or else the lamp will overheat and burn. I’m so glad I ordered the right bulb for it. I have a red fluker’s bulb and works just awesome. My snake hadn’t shed for a while because he was uncomfortable, and now he’s back to normal. It’s a bit awkward to set up the clamps and I had to watch a YouTube tutorial but that’s just me because I’n not very mechanically inclined.

Buen producto, se ve de muy buena calidad. La pinza fijadora se agarra muy bien a las superficies, parece que durará bastante. El interruptor incluído es de buena calidad y de gran utilidad. Por fuera es color negro y metálico por dentro, da buena impresión.
