Why do you need fake eggs? 1.Excessive egg production can easily lead to the loss of calcium in female birds and even failure to give birth. If you want a female bird to lay fewer eggs, the easiest way is to let it hatch by itself. If the female bird lays the first egg, it will lay the second and third eggs. She went back in her cage and went straight over to these eggs and got them all nestled under her and has been laying on them for hours!

Good substitute for cockatiel eggs
Perfect for cockatiels. These are solid inside and look just like real cockatiel eggs. The bird sat on them no problem. At the time I bought them they were the most reasonably priced.

Good product to help our bird with her need to nest
Our little bird reached age 2 and to our great surprise, out pops an egg, and then another! Obviously couldn't leave them in there. So, replaced her eggs with these. She took right to them, nested and got her through.

Thankfully She Never Noticed
I give four stars because it is stated that they are good for Dove eggs, but a side by side shows that my girl’s eggs are a bit larger. The photo shows hers on the right. Thankfully she didn’t suspect a thing. Upon opening the package I was happy to find that there was no odor and the eggs were very realistic appearing, smooth satin texture with barely any parting lines. They also had some weight to them which was a nice addition. I had been preparing to swap eggs for a bit, so I made sure to be near her nest often and interacting with her while she was in it. I put the fake eggs in my pocket for a bit to warm up and get my scent on them, since I was apparently the other half in this relationship. While she was taking a break from her egg sitting duties and was wandering about the room I quickly swapped the eggs out. She didn’t suspect a thing and calmly went back to arranging the eggs and keeping them warm. Overall I would recommend these for any bird parent to try and slow down egg production.

Perfect dupes
My birds sit on these like their regular eggs, they have a good weight and look exactly like the real deal.

My doves have no idea that their egg is plastic.
I have two rescue doves that are non-releasable. They have bonded and the female laid an egg recently. I do not want baby doves because I don't have space for an ongoing supply of birds, but I also know that if you just "take away" the egg, it causes the doves to become stressed and anxious and even depressed. By replacing the real egg with this fake one, they will sit on it until they lose interest and decide on their own that it is not viable and will not hatch. My other birds do the same thing, as I have been replacing their eggs with plastic ones for years. Just like in the wild, the birds lose interest after a certain amount of time if the eggs don't seem like they are going to hatch. My other birds will simply knock it out of the nest after a few weeks. I pick it up and save it for next time.

As good as the real ones
Got this for my tiel who wouldn't stop laying eggs. We were worried that she wouldn't want to take these since they were slightly bigger than hers and a little heavier, but she took them in no problem! Even my male tiel was helping her with them when they rolled away LOL

Worth Having As a Parrot Owner
I feel like $2 apiece is a little steep for fake eggs, but they are sturdy, very real, and worth the purchase in the long run. My female conure of 10 years likes these when the season comes around to start laying and it was a breeze to swap out the four real eggs out for these four fakes.
