The Happiness Project One-Sentence Journal: A Five-Year Record

I absolutely love the one sentence journals. Not only is it quick and easy to do each day but it's so much fun to look back. I found that it's also a great motivator to "do the thing", go on the trip, have that fancy coffee, do the things that bring you joy.

If you like to write and look back over your life and activities over a period of years, this is a great journal in which to do so. The daily quotes on happiness at the top of the page are a fun addition. I love the appearance of this journal and the happy blue and yellow color scheme with handy blue ribbon to mark your place. My grandmother used to keep a 5-Year Journal and after looking at old notebook Journals of mine I realized how interesting it was to look back at the different chapters of my life: going to school, raising children, working etc. Sometimes a few sentences can put you back into that day. For authors, aspiring or published, it might provide ideas for stories and books. Buy yourself a pen you love and writing in this daily is a treat. I bought it along with Q and A a Day: 5-Year Journal which asks you a random question each day for 5 years and you can stretch your creative thinking with it. I write in both these journals at the same time each day. If you like this HAPPINESS PROJECT Journal, you should check out Rubin's THE HAPPINESS PROJECT book on how she applied happiness research to her own life to see how it changed her life. It is a very rewarding read and offers ideas on new activities to try. This would make a great gift for someone you love who is reflective and likes to write.

You create an at-a-glance record of memories. Nice paper stock. Easy to write in. Good value. Nice color. We use it daily. Great purchase. Recommended highly.

This has become one of my new presents to give to loved ones, and they seem to appreciate it. I have my own and have been using it for about a two and a half years. Firstly, I liked that a small section needs to be filled in, so it can be completed quickly before bed, but if you write small enough you can still put loads of details in. After the first year, it is fun to see the difference a year makes. I sometimes surprise myself that it's actually been a year, although hoping not a sign of getting old! I also like the top of each page has a saying, which is fun when revisiting the page. I like mentioning to friends about something that happened a year ago, and then we re-share the memories, achievements, etc Also, when life is tough, you can remember nice things about a year ago... and if the opposite, you realise how far you've come in that year.. It works for me... and I've also added to my evening routine the 5 year Q&A which I'm looking forward to getting into the second year. How much of a changed person will I be?

I like to journal. I'm used to writing 2 or 3 paragraphs, so this Is a new concept for me this book is a 5-year Journal and even though there are bad things that happen in our lives, we need to focus on joy, love, happiness, positive thought. This is a wonderful book. One thing I've learned about one sentence journaling is I will write one sentence one positive sentence, of a blessing, or joy. This is really a neat little book.Write one sentence each day, in 1, 2 or even 5 years what you did on this day. A look back at your journey. The Happiness Project is trying to change our focus from the negative to the positive. What happened that day, the week, what were yyour emotions the good that you're feeling make sure you write in the one sentence what happened that day so that you can remember these things when you read your writing. Helps you recall what brought you happiness during the year. I love the school of thought that you only write one sentence. The thought of writing three or four paragraphs each night in a journal is a turn off to some people. So this is a win win idea. Writing one sentence per day will help you to recall how your life moved forward in the past year. Highly recommend this book. And remember, stay positive!

This has been my daily habit for 5 years. It helps me remember how truly blessed I am. Got my new on 01/01/2026.

I love this book both for quality and concept. I'm on year 5 and the book is in grear condition. I'm left handed and I do not have any problems writing in the small thick book. Sure in January and December its a little lop sided but you only write a sentence and I don't have any complaints. The pages are a heavy weight so a regular pen doesn't show through at all. And I love that you can start on any date. I've bought several as gifts and I'll get a 2nd one when I finish this. I love it so much I use a separate note book when I travel to record menories because this book is now an irreplaceable keepsake.

A beautifully made journal. Open ended daily entries vs prompts, and full of lovely, thought-provoking quotes.

I wanted to see if I can streamline my next give years of life. This looks like a very good tool to me. I found size, colour, binding, pages very comfortable. I think this tool will make me a better human being. I am not a psychologist. But I think that happiness quotes selected and printed on each page have some theraupatic value. Perhaps, this tool can be equated with a home remedy for self help.

I've been using this journal for over a year now, and am now giving it as a gift (and the recipient is already being asked where she got it!) I write one good thing/best part of my day/one thing I've learned that day before bed (or send myself a text message so that I can catch up later). I find myself thinking, 'I can write about this tonight' when good things happen, and this recognition helps me appreciate and enjoy life's little pleasures in the moment. It's small enough to travel with and I like that I can glance at the spine and watch the bookmark travel through the year. I highly recommend this journal. I am terrible at keeping journals and in the past, I've tried to write every single thing that happened that day and get tired of spending so much time on it that I give up after a month or so. A quick flip through reminds me that last year I taught some cute seniors how to do soduko on the train, my brother donated blood, I cycled along the river with my best friend, and played a certain board game after driving all over a city to find it. This book allows my best memories to stay vibrant and reminds me of the little things that made me happy that I otherwise would have forgotten about.

Ich finde das Bucher super! Ähnlich wie ein Tagebuch. Auf jeder Seite ist ein Tag dargestellt, aber für fünf Jahre. Man hat also pro Tag nur wenig Zeilen. Man muss sich kurz fassen ;) Reicht aber vollkommen. Oft sind es auch nur die kleinen Dinge im Leben die einen Glücklich machen. Man muss sie nur erkennen. Jeder Tag hat etwas positives, was einen glücklich macht. Ich freue mich abends immer wenn ich den Tag revue passieren lasse und mich an die schönen Momente erinnere. Das Happiness-Projekt geht über 5 Jahre. Ich versuche wirklich jeden Tag etwas ins Buch zu schreiben. Klappt bis jetzt super. Und ich denke, dass es nach einigen Jahren interessant und auch lustig ist, zu sehen, was einen z. B. genau vor einem Jahr glücklich gemacht hat.

I love this. I originally saw it in a shop but had no money on me. Bought it on amazon and it's just as good as I remember it in the shop. The bright coloured cover is scrumptious, and the quotes at the top of each page sometimes make you think and sometimes make you smile. It is better if you have smaller handwriting so you can fit more on to the few lines of each day but I find it to be good for a couple of sentences. It is very sturdy and has great paper quality. I definitely think it will last the 5 years though it will probably get that thumbed-through look (which I think is perfect for this type of journal anyway). Small enough to fit in your bag and go wherever you do. I look forward to writing in it each day :) Love love love it!
