Will this work with 24v ac fairy light, i bought few which doesn't work and too sensitive for low voltage.

I wouldn’t bother buying mate. The Martiandale stopped working after the 3rd time of using the rcd test button. And the light pen stopped working after about 2 months

Does the tester make a noise when it detects that the socket is live ?

Yes. The small test bleeps and the red light flashes when it detects a current. The plug socket tester does not make a noise, as you might expect as your testing a live plug socket
