You can but its to light and will be stuck in the fish with the treaded barbs

How much wieght can it hold up too? 30 or 40 pound fish? Swinging them into the kayak??

Heaviest fish so far was a 50lb king, although I wouldn't recommend pulling a heavy fish by just the gaff, my buddie was able to swing it in to his Outback. If the fish is heavy is better to spear it, get the fish close to the kayak, and grab the tail to lift it in.

Whay is the screw size?

The OD demension of the spear end is 5/16" so that should make it 1/4" threaded rod. Overall length of spear end is 11 1/2"
