Introducing your baby to tummy-time has many benefits. Begin using the mat at 3 to 4 months. It helps strengthen the baby's neck, back, and trunk muscles. Babies need strong muscle groups in order to sit, crawl and walk. Tummy time will help avoid flat head syndrome. Babies who spend too much time on their backs or in baby recliners can often develop flat spots on their heads. This is also identified as positional plagiocephaly. Tummy time also helps with visual development as your baby learns to comprehend movement and focus on objects that surround them. Your baby will love the soft comforting tummy-time mat and mom will love the developmental benefits.
