Lua 5.1 Reference Manual

This is a fantastic reference book for the Lua programming language, and I keep it on my desk whenever I'm working in Lua. Please note that this is not a "learn Lua" type of book, it's just a reference manual. If you want to learn Lua then check out  Programming in Lua, Second Edition

This here book got me all Lua-ed up faster than you can shake a can of nails at a rattlesnake!

This book is a literal print of the reference manual available online ( [...] ). It's well written by the original language author. Note that LUA is currently 5.2 but this book is for 5.1. However LUA is typically embedded so it's goof to keep as a reference for the specific version in use.

For a novice in Lua, this manual was, and still remains, invaluable as both a learning aid and reference guide for when you're stuck.

Exactly what the other reviewer said. It describes the syntax of Lua but doesn't tell you how to use Lua to do what you want it to do. It's a good reference but a reference if you want to look up something but that's not what I was hoping for.

Good source for beginner Lua writer

This is the Lua Bible -- having said that, all of this information is available on-line and I find myself using that as I program. If you like a hard-copy reference, buy this!

A very good book on the subject, from the author of the language. I bought it to help me understand Lua better and was very satisfied. An essential companion to 'Programming in Lua' by the same author.
