A Basic Guide To Pattern Drafting

Great book for those intimidated to create garments from patterns. There are examples of what not to do also. As for a basic guide this is a good one. It’s a 60page book not an all-you-need-to-know guide which I think some of these reviewers thought this book would be. Also, the pics are big enough and detailed enough to begin one’s own basic fashion illustrating.

It does giver drafting directions it does have many excellent illustrations of altered basic.

There is a reason the author mentions it’s a supplement to other books. It is very sparse on details. If you don’t have a basic understanding of what the pictures are demonstrating you would be very lost. I like the images and I do fine it useful as a reference guide but that’s really about it. It’s almost like buying a textbook, removing the text, and just lumping the illustration into chapters.

First of all, this man has a youtube channel, and you can learn all of this stuff there. Second of all, this book doesn't explain how to draft the body block. Which is the entire reason i bought the book. I want a refund, this was such a waste of money.

To the lady that have a one star. It states in the description it is for beginners!!!!!

I should have known by the price…not at all what I expected. SUPER basic with no formulas for creating slopers. It is most definitely a good assist for folks taking a pattern making course though, especially if they aren’t particularly grasping the concept. I teach fashion design classes and will most certainly recommend this to students as an assist, but definitely not good if you are trying to learn how to draft patterns from scratch. I do love how it’s illustrated though.

Terrible book. The reason I bought this was to learn how to pattern draft but it basically just tells you how to sew. I already have this skill. I was hoping to learn a new skill. Waste of money! The book title is very misleading.

The only useful part of this book is an example of good/bad notches. It felt like reading a book written by earlier iterations of ChatGPT.

The content of the book is not reflective of the title. Complete wast of money.
