Separated by Prison, United by Conviction - a journal: Revised and Expanded

This book is twenty pages of important questions for couples to think about, write about, and talk about as they seek to understand themselves and each other better. The purpose of the book is to help couples think more deeply about their relationship, the challenges they are navigating together, and their hopes for the future. I bought this book to see if it could help me with a marriage education curriculum I am developing for an incarcerated couple, and I intend to use it for some journaling assignments.

My husband has been away 5 years with 4 more to go. This book is Amazing!! We do a page a week and then discuss after the page is completed. I bought 2 one for me and one for him. Great questions ones that you know the answers without thinking and then other questions you really have to soul search and think of answers. Would buy a 2nd edition if there was one!!!

I got the journal thinking it would be a good tool to use for incarceration of a loved one and was very disappointed. There was way too many questions to fill out to even focus on what the point was & a tiny space to write your answer. I thought it was put together very poorly. The ring on the hand on the cover is not even the ring finger. I just feel as though it was not organized & didnt make much sense.

Both my boyfriend who is serving a 27 month sentence, and I REALLY enjoyed this!!! Really makes you look deeper in to your relationship and look at how this situation affects both of you. I made copies of each page, both for he and I - then mailed him the pages to fill out while I filled them out. Then we would send them to each other and compare what we wrote. Since I haven't actually written in the book, I am going to pass it along to one of the girls that I see in the prison visiting waiting room, and have her do the same and pass it on. I highly recommend this book for all couples in this very difficult scenario.

Some of the questions here are worded just right, trying to find the right words to say to someone incarcerated without offending them or making them feel worse about their situation. I sent this book to a loved one to help us communicate a little better with one another as this is the very beginning of their sentence and we're already feeling a little burnt out.

Me and my incarcerated loved one do these together and we love it. It has really helped us understand more about each other on a deeper level and become closer. Only thing I wish is that there were more questions for the outside partner.. other than that this would be perfect. Should consider making a part 2 to this, if definitely get it.

All the necessary questions that needs to b asked even though they are uncomfortable .Would want more hindsight into new relationships I.e penpals

This is a WONDERFUL resource - filled with questions, thoughts, scenarios that really work for ANY relationship, but especially written for an "inside/outside" relationship. We have found it SO helpful in our own life. Highly recommend this journal!

I really like this book. I don't usually add reviews, but this book is really simple to understand, while asking very helpful and thought provoking questions. It helps keep you and your loved one communicating about the big questions in your relationship, and as a counsellor myself, I would say this book is great tool to help keep any relationship communicating
