I have a500 gallon out door pond will this heat it up to 65 in winter?

This is only the controller. It is programmed to turn on and off your heater or chiller at set temperatures.

does it matter what the heater is set for ?

he ment does it matter what the temperature on the heater is set for being this controller will shut it on and off

How often does this probe the water and make adjustments?

The probe will update the temperature every 3-5 seconds.

"Any help as to why my heater doesn’t turn on when the temp drops below the setting? Set at 78 but water temp is 76"

Please check if the temperature reaches the setting of TS-HD, and if the heating indicator light of ITC-308 is on. If the setting is wrong, it is possible that the heater will not turn on. In addition, please make sure that after the heater is powered on, there is no need to manually press the button to turn it on.
