Gerber Gear GDC Zip Blade Utility Knife with Plain Edge Blade, Compact Everyday Carry Box Cutter and Wire Stripper Tool with Keychain Attachment and Frame Lock

This is my favorite keychain knife ever. It has a blade that looks like a razor blade but the back of the blade is solid and thicker. I have tried a lot of keychain knifes and this is the best. This is really tiny. I read the reviews and took a scissors and cut the extension out and put on my Keychain. I showed it to the others in my office and they were impressed.. Dimensions Folded: 1 3/4 inch long and 3/4 of an inch at it's widest point and 1/4 inch wide. The dimenstions speak for itself Pros Tiny, did I say tiny Came very sharp just about razor blade sharp Sharpness of razor blade with the durability of a knife behind it. Blade locks when open Blade snaps closed eliminating possibility of accident opening Great for opening boxes packages etc.. Light duty work where less than 3/4 inch deep [Blade Length] is required. Perfect for 99.9% of my use! Cons It is a little hard to open, but there is hex screws in side so I think I could adjust it, but I like that it's hard to open because it eliminates the danger that this sharp. Very sharp knife will open in your pocket by accident. So the con is also a pro.

I bought one of these to take with me everywhere I go, whether it's on a survival trip to the Bob Marshall Wilderness or just to go to town. It has a very strong blade and holds a sharp edge, and some people might be worried that if you dirt-bike/ATV with it you might get dust in the hinging mechanism, but no matter how much dust gets on these things they still open smoothly and in my opinion would be useful to die-hard adventurers, people that need small, packable, reliable tools such as backpackers and fishermen, as well as the family man who likes to take his family on an outdoor excursion once in a while and even the average around-town individual.

I haven’t used it yet but as other reviews have said, this thing is small. I gave it 5stars because gerber makes quality products and the dimensions are posted. I got it for work but I really liked the clip design, the loop connects to a plastic part you squeeze to free the knife. The knife is also a liner lock

This has been a handy little knife. I wasn't sure how handy this knife would be, but I've got a few of these little knives now on various outer clothing. When fishing I've found the Gerber GDC Zip Blade handier than trying to dig my pocket knife out for minor cutting tasks. I like the design as on the zipper pull, the knife often rides in the middle of my chest. The 2.26" blade length is handy for tough cutting jobs. When hunting I've found the Gerber GDC Zip Blade handy for pulling burrs out of my dog's feet and fur. The lock open feature is nice and handy. This little knife fits and feels secure enough in the hand well enough for even someone with big mitts like myself. For the price, it's a good value for the money and a decent little and handy knife. When folded and riding on my chest, I hardly notice the thickness of the knife or it's blade.

I haven't had the need to use this yet, but I have cut up some cardboard with it, just to check it out. No matter how small you think this is, it'll be smaller than you were expecting when you get in your hands. I have it hanging on my jacket's zipper pull and I don't even notice it. It's nice to know that I've got an emergency blade on me if I'm without my EDC (which isn't very often). I also have a little Victorinox on my keychain, so I doubt I'll ever have a real NEED for this, but it's still nice to know it's there. It's so small and so cheap, you can keep one in the tackle box, one in the glove box, one for the purse, one on your fall jacket, one on your winter coat, one on your pack or bookbag, give 'em away as cool little gifts... The blade is remarkably sturdy for something so small. It doesn't feel like a "toy" knife. The frame lock secures the blade beyond any fear of it closing on you. The blade also seats on a ball bearing when closed, so it's a little tough to open (long nails may break). The blade seats a little past the 90 degree point (seats, NOT locks) too, so you can hook your finger over the back of the blade to use as a pulling hook blade, rather than fully opening it to the locking position. Blade was pretty sharp, but don't expect to shave with it. The blade is also stout enough to use as a small pry tool (would have no risk of damage levering up the pull tab on a soup can, for example) although Gerber probably would say it's a cutting blade, not a pry tool. Still, for $7, who cares? You could even use the back of the blade as a small scraping tool. It's surprisingly comfortable and feels pretty good in the hand. You really get solid purchase on it. It doesn't "swim" in your hand, nor feel too small to be useful. I'd recommend this to anyone from homemaker to student to outdoorsperson. Great stocking stuffer.

I Love this little knife. Update: I've been using it for 4 years now (2016-2020), I use all the time from my key ring, you can cut through some pretty heavy stuff, stuff that would easily break a Swiss Army Classic SD Pocket Knife. I thought the little string it hangs on would break in no time, not so, 4 years of abuse and it's still there. I must have got a good one because I have had no problem at all with it. I'm amazed at the blade, unbreakable and holds it's edge, in 4 years I've never had to sharpen it other than a lite steel touch up, even after cutting open heavy plastic packaging on a long 6 cell Maglite and accidentally put a deep scratch all the way up the side of the Aluminum Maglite, I thought oh no I ruined the tip of my blade, not so to my supprize. I've had several Swiss SD knives taken at the airport and gov buildings, never had the Gerber confiscated, went through TSA several times and government buildings..

This is a nice size, and I like the knife. The blade is sharp, and well shaped for the tasks you'd expect to perform with a small knife like this. The handle is shaped well for it's size and I've had no trouble using the knife for cutting zip ties, opening boxes, etc. Even with the issues listed below I'd buy again, as I haven't found another small blade that's as nice. Unfortunately the clip that holds the blade open is a bit poorly designed. I have several times had the clip pop open too far, so that the knife partially closes on the clip and wedges in place. You then have to pry it further out of place, to open the knife up all the way again, then you have to pry the clip back into place where it should be. You can then close the knife as usual. This is a frustrating and hazardous to your fingers operation. I think there needs to be a retaining "bump" on the pivot to prevent this from happening. Unfortunately there isn't one. Perhaps on version 2. 2nd issue, which is not as severe, the blade requires quite a bit of force to open. Enough so that I have broken my thumbnail twice opening it. I have rather thick thumbnails, cut short, and have never had this issue with another knife. I expect it to loosen with age and this won't be a long term problem, but short term it means I have to be very careful opening it.

tout petit , tout mini.. qualité gerber ,coupe très bien.. peut etre un peu petit pour le prix. par contre la petite cordelette à retirer et remplacer par une attache en métal style porte clef.

I finally found the perfect key chain knife. Tiny but has a Liner lock it is about 3mm thick blade so it's not flimsy like most key chain knives.

Estaba muy decepcionado de la navaja por que era imposible de abrir casi me desprendo la uña y decidí no volverla a tocar, sospechaba que fuera un defecto por que en los videos circulan la abren muy fácilmente. Pedí la devolución y en lugar de pedir el dinero decidí darle otra oportunidad y pedir el cambio el remplazo del producto... wow me llego al otro día de hacer el reclamo, la probé con miedo y SORPRESA funciona perfectamente, se abre super facil, posee muy buena calidad, es muy practica, el filo es muy muy bueno y la puedes manipular perfectamente. Para cerrarla tienes que presionar un poco el seguro para liberarlo y que cierre sin problema, es sencillísimo. Si algo no te satisface, la garantia de amazon es excelente y estoy muy contento de comprar aquí, incluso mensajería va a pasar a recoger el producto defectuoso, les mando una foto en donde se puede ver el defecto, la cuchilla de abajo esta mas cerrada por muy poco pero ese es el defecto que evita poder abrirla.

Das Messerchen kam gewohnt flott - leider nicht in frustfreier Verpackung, sondern einer, die zum Öffnen selbst schon ein Messer benötigt. Das Messer ist extrem robust, schneidet sehr gut und stumpft bisher nicht ab. Die Arretierung der Klinge hält erstaunlich fest - keine Gefahr für Finger & Co. Einzig die sehr dünne Schlaufe zum befestigen stimmt mich etwas unsicher - Ob sie auch extremerem Zug oder versehentlichem Reißen standhält, zeigt sich - ggf. werde ich die Rezension aktualisieren. Alles in Allem aber ein super Messer für Schlüsselbund, Jacke usw. Perfekt zum Öffnen von Paketen, Verpackungen usw. bzw. zum Ritzen, Kratzen und in gewissen Umfang auch zum "Schnitzen". Wer ein robustes, solides Messerchen für die kleineren Dinge sucht ist perfekt bedient!

This has got to be the coolest little knife in my collection. It is a perfect size for a zipper pull. main knife is all metal has a nylon strap going to a clip. The clip is very snug and can be difficult to get off but I take this as a good thing as I would not want the knife to fall off my clothes if it were being used as a zipper pull. Knife is locked in place which is why it can be hard to open again this is good as you would not want it to open on you while wearing it. once open the knife is great and very sharp. I highly recommend this knife.
