Hi it charges from a u s b lead you get with it it's great bit of kit use it all the time

No app is required. The unit has a screen on the hand held control which shows the picture from the camera. You can insert a Micro SD card in the unit to record video or pictures.

What is monitor resolution ?

adequate for most tasks that I use it for . However in tight enclosed spaces ,like the inside of a steam boiler where distance is limited the contrast between illuminated areas and shadow areas resolution is inadequate.
