Here come 15 previously unreleased adventures featuring our favorite two-fisted fighter that are literally out of this world! The secret to the seaman's success is "location, location, location," and with this new collection, you'll travel with Popeye and crew into outer space, all around the globe and under the sea! Continuing the chronological theatrical releases, this set covers the years 1946 and 1947. Popeye not only rockets to Mars, he explores the ocean deep, becomes a cowboy out West, fights pirates on the high seas and tackles wild game in Africa. He and his lady love, Olive Oyl, also find romance (and usually a Bluto-like rival) while traveling back to medieval times or exploring the fictional Middle Easter city of Badgag, as well as climbing mountain peaks in the frozen Klondike. This is classic animation at its finest - featuring zany cartoon action from the pen of veteran Jim Tyer and powerfully dynamic direction from animation legend Bill Tytla. Packed with a punch, loaded with laughs and heaping with heart, The 1940s, Volume 2 comes to port with plenty of Popeye appeal. Review: Another stellar restoration, well worth the wait - First of all, leaving a negative review just because you haven’t received your copy yet is not cool. See, these reviews are to rate the product itself, not your customer experience or service. Instead of saying something negative in a public forum, why not contact desertcart directly? If you had, as I did, you’d find out how much demand for this second volume outstripped the initial supply. OK, rant over! The review: another incredible package from Warner Bros., the restoration should be seen to be believed as on the previous color Popeye disc. These cartoons have never looked this good, not even when originally projected. These toons’ original 3-strip technicolor negatives were scanned individually, repaired and realigned digitally with a level of precision not available until the current era of restoration, then color-timed and mastered for the 1080p 2k HD disc. The color explodes off the screen. Review: Best cartoon on the disc was “The Royal Four Flusher”! - I love vintage animated cartoons, and I love Popeye. So I would naturally recommend this Blu-ray Disc to everyone. I am really happy with my purchase.

Perfect for Popeye vintage collectors
These vintage cartoons are absolutely priceless so I was thrilled when the collection was released. They do not disappoint! They are another treasure trove of entertainment and art!

A rare sequel that's better than the first
Some massive WNEW-TV New York and even Cartoon Network/Boomerang vibes. Well those three ways or more PALE in comparison to this DVD. Again I did not get Blu-Ray, but this regular DVD is Popeye PERFECTION. The cartoons, title cards and all are restored to magnificence. Peep in The Deep was the biggest picture improvement. Seeing it on Cartoon Network, the scene where Bluto becomes a snake after hearing about the sunken treasure was TOO DARK. The restoration is a 720 than even seeing it on Boomerang's streaming service. The animation by Jim Tyer and Bill Tytla make this collection of 15 pure T 'n T. Volume 1 was great...Volume 2...BEYOND EXCELLENT. Volume 3 please?

Who doesn't love Popeye!
Its great to see these wonderful shorts in their original form. Equally awesome is the image quality. These cartoons look great. I'm having a wonderful time watching them, and if you're a Popeye fan, you will too!

Only one disc of cartoons in the set.
The cartoons in this disc are nice and Vibrant. The 1940s cartoons are definitely the best that Paramount pictures ever produced. Unfortunately I was a bit disappointed to find out that there was only one disc when the Black and White Collection had two to four discs per set

Classic Popeye Shorts from the Famous Studios
Popeye moves out of black and white and from the Fleischer Studio to the new Famous Studios. While I prefer the Fleischer Popeyes, I had never seen these before and was really looking forward to it. Fun, funny and different in tone from the Fleischer ones, I enjoyed these a bunch. Golden age animation that I'd never seen before was a treat. If you like Popeye, I'd still recommend the Fleischer bros 1930s collection first, but if you've seen those and want to see a different take on Popeye, by all means give these a shot.

Second set of rare toons just as disappointing as the first.
Again, fantastic transfers of previously unavailable Popeye cartoons, post Fleischer Studios era, are very difficult to enjoy. The standout, Rocket to Mars, might be worth the purchase price, no, it's just not enough.
