There has been a need for a protocol-book to explain how the knowledge of ion channels and the theoretical background of electrophysiology can be used in practice. Okada et al. fills this need completely. Thus, whenever one wants to work with new techniques or needs basic knowledge of how-tricks can be done in lab, he/she should get this book instead of separate, hand-written protocol-sheets, that have traveled from lab to lab for decades.

I am a fresh grad student working in a patch clamp lab. I needed a book which provided a crash course in clamping and protocols used to elicit various results (Presynaptic measurements etc..). This book is incredibly useful and provides both theory and technique. I would recommend it to any grad or undergrad looking into the world of patch clamping It can be used alone or alongside, "Single-Channel Recording" and/or "Patch clamping" by molleman.
