will this work to convert old pre 1980s 3 to 5 hp briggs to solid state ignitions?

I used it on an old 60's 5hp Briggs. It used to have a points ignition. All you do is remove the old coil, cut the wire going to the points and tape it off (or you can remove the flywheel and remove the whole system, but it's not necessary), then bolt on new coil, set gap with a business card and that's all. It works great. You can also wire in a kill switch if you want. I did so I don't have to fool with potentially shocking myself every time I turn the tiller off.

Need match coil for 2200437 type 0148-01 10 hp b &s

Those numbers will not match up for us.

What connector size/type do you need for kill switch?

Just about anything will do. A doorbell switch will work. A small toggle switch as well either on-off or momentary on .

Will this work on a Briggs 136217 type 0140 01? Having a time trying to find the correct part for my go cart engine.

Ok, you have a BS engine. What HP is it.
