Is there an expiration date? How far out?

yes expiration info on each container. my items expire october 2016

They are boneless and mushy. I would never buy them again even if they were the only thing available! Stick with Polar or John West.

Why is there small pieces instead of larger filets?

My tins have contained a mix of large filets and smaller pieces. I use it to make kedgeree so it works well for me
